Let \(R\) be a standard graded polynomial ring in two variables and let \(I=(a,b,c)\) where \(a,b\) and \(c\) are linearly independent homogeneous polynomials with the same degree \(d\). Let \(\text{Rees} (I) = R \oplus I \oplus I^2 \oplus I^3 \oplus \cdots \) be the Rees algebra of \(I\). Let \(K\) be the kernel of the surjective map \(h \colon R[x,y,z] \to \text{Rees} (I)\). In this paper the authors give an algorithm (which was also discovered independently by \textit{J. Hong}, \textit{A. Simis} and \textit{W. V. Vasconcelos} [J. Symb. Comput. 43, No. 4, 275--292 (2008; Zbl 1139.13013)]) for finding \(d+1\) minimal generators of \(K\). Using this, they prove a conjecture of Hong, Simis and Vasconcelos [loc. cit.] and also give an implicit equation of the curve parameterized by \(a,b\) and \(c\).
