Reducing neuronal networks to discrete dynamics (Q2482145)

A general class of purely inhibitory and excitatory-inhibitory neuronal networks are studied and the complex firing patterns that emerge are characterized. The authors reduce these networks into a discrete model by appropriate choice of the intrinsic and synaptic properties of the cells. Rigorous analysis of this procedure is given. Numerical simulations and discussion of the results are provided by the authors as well.
