The authors consider the system of globally coupled oscillators with a special form of delayed control: \[ \dot W_j = (1+i\omega_j -| W_j| ^2)W_j + C (\bar W - W_j) + \eta_j(t),\quad (j=1,\dots,N), \] where the complex variable \(W_j\) denotes the position of \(j\)-th oscillator, \(\bar W\) is the mean field given by the averaging of \(W_j\) over all oscillators. The control term is given by \[ \eta_j(t) = K \sum_{m=1}^{M} p_m \rho_{jm} \bar W(t-\tau_m), \] where \(p_m=\pm 1\) and \(\tau_m>0\) are delays. The system is a simplified paradigmic model for multisite delayed feedback stimulation technique, used for treating of some neurological diseases. Starting from this model, the authors derive another continuous medium model for globally coupled phase oscillators, for which they investigate the existence and stability of spatial phase patterns. They show also that the introduced delayed feedback may control these spatial phase patterns. In particular, the stimulation may desynchronize the oscillators.
