Let \(G\) be either a symplectic or orthogonal group over a local non-archimedean field \(F\) of characteristic zero, or a unitary group over a quadratic extension, \(E\), of \(F\). Let \(\gamma(\pi,\chi,s, \psi)\) be the local gamma factor associated with a given irreducible admissible representation \(\pi\) of \(G\) where \(\chi\) is a character of \(F^*\) and \(\psi\) is a fixed non-trivial character of \(F\). This work extends a theorem on the stability under twists of the local gamma factor of the symplectic and orthogonal \(G\), if \(\chi\) is sufficiently ramified [\textit{S. Rallis} and \textit{D. Soudry}, Math. Ann. 333, No. 2, 291--313 (2005; Zbl 1076.22014)], to the above class of the unitary groups.
