The author discusses the solution of a linear interval system (that is, computation of the interval hull of the solution set) in relation to the algebraic solution of the corresponding system (in terms of interval arithmetic). The coincidence between the interval hull and the algebraic solution is examined. Both necessary and sufficient conditions are formulated and proved. Several numerical examples are presented.
