It is known that there are admissible functional transformations that reduce the general Abel equation of second kind \[ \left[ g_{1}(x)u+g_{0}(x)\right] u'=f_{2}(x)u^{2}+f_{1}(x)u+f_{0}(x) \] to the normal form \[ y y'-y=f(x), \] where \(f\) is an arbitrary function. The author is concerned with the construction of exact analytic solutions of the latter equation which is known to be solvable in parametric form only in certain special cases.
