The authors consider the operator inclusion \[ p\in Ax+Cx \] in a Banach space \(X\), where \(p\in X\), \(A:D(A)\subseteq X\to 2^X\) is an accretive mapping and \(C:D(C)\subseteq X\to X\) is a nonlinear one. Several existence results are obtained under a countably condensing type condition on the map \(\phi=(I-\lambda C)(I+\lambda A)^{-1}\) for some \(\lambda>0\). A topological degree (or a fixed point index) for countably condensing mappings is used. In the proofs, under suitable boundary conditions, the map \(\phi\) is joined with a constant map by a homotopy which is fixed point free on a boundary. Then the continuation (homotopy) property is applied.
