Local and global nonlinear dynamics of a parametrically excited rectangular symmetric cross-ply laminated composite plate (Q2484747)

This paper deals with periodic excitation of a simply supported rectangular symmetric cross ply laminated plate. The geometric and damping nonlinearity is modeled based on von Karman type plate equation. The method of multiple phase to obtain the first order averaged equation which is the numerically dealt with. It is found that periodic, quasi periodic and chaotic motions can be present at the same time under certain conditions.
