This paper investigates the cell centred finite volume time domain solvers for Maxwell's equations. A number of solution strategies have been applied to resolve the different waveguide studies. Staggered and unstaggered Leapfrog and Runge-Kutta time integration methods are analysed in terms of phase amplitude error to identify which method is the most accurate and efficient for simulating microwave heating process. Finally, a comparison is made of analytical and numerical results for standard case studies in rectangular waveguides to assess the accuraracy of the methods developed.
