The author studies the problem of the existence of at least one \(2\pi\)-periodic solution of the Rayleigh equation \[ x''+ f(x')+ g(x)= p(t), \] where \(f\), \(g\) are continuous functions and \(p\) is a continuous and \(2\pi\)-periodic function. The author proves that the given equation has at least one \(2\pi\)-periodic solution provided that \(f(x)\) is sublinear and the time map of the equation \(x''+ g(x)= 0\) satisfies some nonresonance conditions. The author also proves that this equation has at least one \(2\pi\)-periodic solution provided that \(g(x)\) satisfies \(\lim_{|x|\to\infty} \text{sgn}(x)g(x)= +\infty\) and \(f(x)\) satisfies \(\text{sgn}(x)f(x)- p(t)\geq e\), for \(t\in \mathbb{R}\), \(|x|\geq d\) with \(c\), \(d\) being positive constants.
