      Ergo surfaces are surfaces where a Killing vector being timelike in a certain region of the spacetime becomes null. In asymptotically flat spacetimes, ergo surfaces are typically related to the unique asymptotically timelike Killing vector. In a cosmological setting such a unique definition is in general not possible. The paper proposes the use of the vorticity of the timelike Killing vectors as a criterion to single out a preferred vector, the timelike Killing vector with appropriately minimized vorticity. This condition is, however, not sufficient to fix a unique timelike Killing vector.
