The authors give a brief account of a curvature-squared model of gravity in the affine form, proposed by Yang. The history of the model and its current status are presented. The model can be quantized, however, it exhibits a ``vacuum degeneracy''. The authors show how this can be cured using a scale invariance breaking term. One of the Appendices contains the text of the letter of Robert Mills, who contributed to this model as well.
