The authors consider integral functionals of the form \[ F(u,\Omega)= \int_{\Omega}f(Du) dx \] where \(\Omega \subset R^n\) is a bounded domain, \(u \in W^{1,p}(\Omega,R^N)\) with \(n,N \geq 2\) and \(p>1\). Under suitable assumptions on the convex function \(f=f(z)\), they prove a very interesting estimate of the Hausdorff dimension of the singular set of the \(\omega\)-minima of \(F\). The key ingredient of the proof is a new comparison-covering argument which permits to prove that the \(\omega\)-minima belong to a fractional Sobolev-Slobodetskij space \(W^{1, \gamma}\). Then the dimensional estimate for the singular set follows from the general properties of the space \(W^{1, \gamma}\). Higher integrability results are also given.
