Jet operators on fields (Q2488332)

\textit{A. Buium} [``Arithmetic analogues of derivations'', J. Algebra 198, 290--299 (1997; Zbl 0892.13008)] has united concepts of derivation and difference operator into the uniform concept of a jet operator and has shown, that in characteristic zero such definition does not bring in new essences. In this paper the author proves similar result for fields of arbitrary characteristic Theorem. Suppose \(\delta\) is a jet operator on an infinite field \(K\). Then \(\delta\) is equivalent to a difference operator or a derivation or a derivation of a power of the Frobenius map.
