Using the theory of normal families, a conjecture of \textit{L. Yang}, see [Univ. of Notre Dame Press, pp. 157--171 (1992; Zbl 0869.30026)], related to the radially distributed values of entire functions is shown to be true under certain additional conditions. This conjecture reads as follows: Let \(P\) be a property of meromorphic functions such that if the property holds in~\({\mathbb C}\), then \(f\) has to be constant. Let now \(f\) be an entire function of finite lower order, and \(L_j: \arg z=\theta_j\) be \(q\) rays with \(0\leq\theta_1<\theta_2<\dots<\theta_q<2\pi\) (\(\leq\theta_{q+1}=\theta_1+2\pi\)), suppose that the property \(P\) holds for the restriction of \(f\) into \(C\setminus\bigcup_{j=1}^q L_j\). Then \(\rho(f)\leq\max_{1\leq j\leq q}(\frac\pi{\theta_{j+1}-\theta_j})\). The author then defines a direction of Marty type for a meromorphic function \(f\) in \({\mathbb C}\) as a ray \(L:\arg z=\theta\) such that for any \(a\in{\mathbb R}\) and any \(\varepsilon>0\), the supremum of \(| z| ^{\alpha+1}| f'(z)| /(1+| z| ^{2\alpha}| f(z)| ^2)\) in the closed sector \(\theta-\varepsilon\leq\arg z\leq\theta+\varepsilon\) becomes infinite. The main result is as follows: Suppose \(f\) is meromorphic in \({\mathbb C}\) of finite lower order such that \(\delta(0,f)+\delta(\infty,f)>0\) and \(f\) has no directions of Marty type except of \(L_j\):s above. Then the order \(\rho(f)\) satisfies the claim in the Lo Yang conjecture. As an immediate corollary of the main theorem, if the property is the normality, then the conjecture is true.
