The authors examine the time-dependent flow of a thermodynamically compatible, incompressible and electrically conducting third-grade fluid in annular region between two infinitely long coaxial cylinders due to the axial translation of the inner cylinder and subject to a transverse magnetic field of time-dependent strength. This nonlinear problem is analyzed with the aid of group-theoretic methods and results in an analytical solution for velocity field. This short paper is clearly written and consequently easily readible. The major criticism of this work which would be of interest to research workers in the field of non-Newtonian fluid mechanics is the lack of ananlysis of the actual solution and comparison with the corresponding results for classical fluids.
