The author introduces two new and alternative definitions for the \(\varepsilon\)-pseudospectra of a given complex matrix. These complete and improve a previous one proposed by \textit{Y. Shen, J. Zhao} and \textit{H. Fan} [Appl. Math. Comp. 161, 385--393 (2005; Zbl 1076.65037)] and give the author the possibility to obtain correct inclusions between the different sets of generalized eigenvalues involved in the computations.
