The linear electrodynamic, Rayleigh-Taylor instability of the cylindrical interface between two inviscid, incompressible, conducting fluids is studied. The two fluids are enclosed between two cylindrical surfaces which admit heat and mass transfer. The whole system is stressed by both longitudinal and radial electric fields, respectively. In the case of an axial constant electric field the following conclusions hold: the heat and mass transfer have no influence on the stability of the system (this result is contrary to the result of stabilizing influence of heat and mass transfer studied by Hsieh in plane geometry); the electrical conductivities \(\sigma_1\) and \(\sigma_2\) have an essential role in the mechanism of the system; the increase of the azimuthal wavenumber \(m\) increases the stability of the system; the increase of the dimensions of the system increases the stability of the system. In the case of a radial electric field, the following conclusions are obtained: the heat and mass transfer have a stabilizing influence on the system; the azimuthal wavenumber \(m\) has a stabilizing effect in this case; the increase of the value of the electrical conductivity \(\sigma_2\) increases the instability of the system; the increase of the dimensions of the system increases the stability of the system.
