The authors consider problems of the type \[ -\partial_{x_i}(b_{ij}(x)\partial_{x_j}u_n)+ a(x) u_n= f\quad\text{in }\Omega_n, \] with some boundary conditions. Here \(b_{ij}\), \(i,j= 1,\dots, k\), \(a(x)\) are bounded functions, \(\Omega_n\) is a bounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^k\) whose size is supposed to become infinite in all or in certain directions, and \(f\) is periodic in all or in certain directions. The question that the authors adress in this paper is to determine if the periodicity of the data forces the solution to converge to a periodic function. The aim of the authors is to find this limit solution, and if it is possible to study the rate of convergence of the solution \(u_n\) towards it.
