The authors investigate a branching Brownian motion (BBM) with killing where individual particles move as Brownian motion with drift \(-\rho\), perform dyadic branching with rate \(\beta\) and are killed at the origin. A probabilistic proof is given for the classical result that the Fisher-Kolmogorov-Petrovskii-Piskunov travelling wave equation of speed \(-\rho\) with solution \(f:[0,\infty)\to [0,1]\) satisfying \(f(0)=1, f(\infty)=0\) has a unique solution with a particular asymptotic when \(-\rho<\sqrt{2\beta}\) and no solutions otherwise. As a byproduct a new result is established that the asymptotic speed of the right-most particle in the killed BBM is \(\sqrt{2\beta}-\rho\) on the survival set. In addition, the almost-sure exponential growth rate of the number of particles of speed \(\lambda\in (0,\sqrt{2\beta}-\rho) \) is demonstrated and the asymptotic behavior of the probability of finding the right-most particle with speed \(\lambda >\sqrt{2\beta}-\rho \) is investigated.
