Isomorphism classes of hyperelliptic curves of genus 3 over finite fields (Q2490140)

In this article, the author gives closed formulas for the number of isomorphism classes of hyperelliptic curves of genus 3 with a rational Weierstrass point over a finite field. The author uses explicit computations of orbits of models for these curves under the group of isomorphisms, with special attention in the cases of characteristic \(2\) and \(7\). Note, that similar results were obtained for isomorphism classes of hyperelliptic curves of genus \(3\) [\textit{E. Nart} and \textit{D. Sadornil}, Finite Fields Appl. 10, 198--220 (2004; Zbl 1049.11063)] and for non-hyperelliptic curves of genus \(3\) [\textit{E. Nart} and \textit{C. Ritzenthaler}, J. Number Theory 116, 443--473 (2006; Zbl 1102.14019)], both over a finite field of characteristic \(2\).
