A remarkable characterization of the partially ordered ring \(C(X) \) of real-valued continuous functions on a compact Hausdorff space \(X\) was established by M. H. Stone in 1940. \ He has introduced an important class of partially ordered rings, referred to as Stone rings. The present paper deals with a discrete version of Stone rings (called integral Stone rings). Its main goal is to show that such rings, defined by some of the properties of the totally ordered rings of integers, are exactly the bounded \(Z\)-rings, that is, the commutative \(f\)-rings with strong singular unit.
