Necessary and sufficient conditions on the continuous functions \(g,h : \mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}\) are offered so that the functional equations \(f(xg[f(y)]+yh[f(y)]) = f(x)f(y)\) (\(x,y\in\mathbb{R}\)) have nontrivial continuous solutions \(f:\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}\), and the general such solutions are enumerated, in the case \(| g(1)| = | h(1) | =1\). A previous paper by the author [ibid. 61, 63--78 (2001; Zbl 0972.39013)] took care of the cases where \(| g(1)|\neq 1\) or \(| h(1) | \neq 1\).
