Combinatorial results for semigroups of order-preserving full transformations. (Q2491176)

Let \(O_n\) be the semigroup of all order-preserving full transformations on a finite chain, \(X_n=\{1,2,\dots,n\}\). The number \(f(n,r,k)\) of all mappings in \(O_n\) with \(r\) fixed points and with \(k\) as the maximum point in their image is shown to be the difference of two binomial coefficients. Similarly a product of two binomial coefficients gives the number \(J(n,r,k)\) of all mappings in \(O_n\) of rank \(r\) and \(k\) as maximum image member. Additional results include counts involving the set of idempotents of \(O_n\).
