    We say a functional equation is superstable if every `approximate' solution of the equation actually becomes an `exact' solution. The authors prove the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of ring derivations on Banach algebras and then establish the following superstability result. Suppose that \(A\) is a Banach algebra without unit, i.e. there is no non-zero \(a, b \in A\) such that \(aA=Ab=0\). If \(f: A \to A\) is a mapping satisfying \(\| f(a+b)-f(a)-f(b)\| \leq \varepsilon(\| a\| ^p+\| b\| ^p)\) and \(\| f(ab)-f(a)f(b)\| \leq \varepsilon \| a\| ^p\,\| b\| ^p\) for some \(\varepsilon \geq 0\), some \(p \geq 0\) with \(p \neq 1\), and all \(a, b \in A\), then \(f\) is a ring derivation. Some similar results can be found in the reviewer's paper [Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of generalized derivations, Intern. J. Math. Math. Sci. 2006, Art. ID 93942 (2006)] and \textit{R. Badora} [Math. Inequal. Appl. 9, No. 1, 167--173 (2006; Zbl 1093.39024)].
