Let \(X\) be a finite-dimensional metrizable and compact topological manifold with boundary and Borel measure \(\mu\). Theorem 1 gives abstract conditions for \(x\in X\) under which the following statements hold for a typical function \(f\in C(X,X)\): (1) The limit set \(\omega(f,x)\) is a Cantor set of Hausdorff dimension 0. (2) \(f|_{\omega(f,x)}\) is onto, sensitive at each point of the limit set and has all orbits dense. (3) The map \(x\mapsto\omega(f,x)\) is continuous with respect to the Hausdorff metric. (Typical means that all functions \(f\) not satisfying these conditions form a set of first category.) It follows from this theorem that these statements hold for \(\mu\) almost all \(x\in X\) (respectively for typical \(x\in X\), if \(f\) is also onto).
