In the present study the author deals with the Cauchy problem for a set of a nonlinear equations with ellipticity and dissipativity effects, which reads \[ \psi_t=-(\sigma-\alpha)\psi-\sigma\theta_x+\alpha\psi_{xx}\tag{1} \] \[ \theta_t=-(1-\beta)\theta+\nu\psi_x+2\psi\theta_x+\beta \theta_{xx}\tag{2} \] with initial data \((\psi(0,x),\theta(0,x))=(\psi_0(x), \theta_0(x))\), where \((t,x)\in\mathbb R_+\times\mathbb R\), \(\alpha,\beta, \sigma\) and \(\nu\) are all the positive constants satisfying the relation \(\alpha<\sigma\) and \(\beta<1\). The goal of this paper is to show that, under suitable assumptions on the data (1)--(2) the optimal decay rates of the solution to (1)--(2) with more general initial conditions \((\psi_0(x),\theta_0(x))\to(\psi_\pm,\theta_\pm,)\) as \(x\to \pm\infty\) are attained as well. To this end the author uses the Fourier analysis and interpolation inequality. Moreover the author discusses the asymptotic behaviour of the solution to (1)--(2).
