The Henon-Heiles model is a standard example of the clasical Hamiltonian system with a parametric transition to chaos. Its quantum version is defined in terms of the Schroedinger operator, whose spectral propeties are investigated by means of perturbation techniques, earlier developed and numerically tested for the one-dimensional anharmonic oscillator model. The problem is that the pertinent minimal operator is not essentially self-adjoint and has infinitely many self-adjoint extensions. On the other hand, the perturbation theory of a problem with a complex coupling constant is uniquely associated with a non-selfadjoint closed operator whose spectrum is discrete. Spectral properties of this operator and its resolvent are analyzed. The distributional Borel summability of the Raileigh-Schroedinger perturbation expansion is the main technical input.
