Bounding functions methods for fully nonlinear boundary value problems (Q2492400)

An existence result for a third-order semilinear ordinary differential equation with nonlinear boundary conditions is obtained by the method of bounding functions. More precisely, under a monotonicity condition on the boundary conditions \(P=(P_1,P_2,P_3)\) and a Nagumo condition on the nonlinearity \(f\), the existence of a solution of the following problem is proved in the presence of an ordered couple of bounding functions; \[ y''' = f(t,y,y',y''),\quad P(y(a),y'(a),y''(a), y(b),y'(b),y''(b))=0. \]
