The author proves a rather general Tauberian theorem for statistical convergence based on a nonnegative summability method \(C=(c_n(\lambda))_{n=0}^\infty\) with discrete or continuous parameter \(\lambda\,.\) The main result shows that if the summability method \(C\) itself has a Tauberian condition like \(| x_{n+1}-x_n| =O(a_n)\) with a nonnegative null sequence \((a_n),\) then ordinary convergence of \((x_n)\) to \(x\) follows from from the same TC and statistical convergence, i.e., \(\sum\limits_{n: \; | x_n-x| >\varepsilon} c_n(\lambda) \to 0\), for all \(\varepsilon >0\,.\) Furthermore the space \(\mathbb R\), or \(\mathbb C\), with the usual metric can be replaced by a metric space.
