Let \(\nu\) be the standard measure on the space of all lattices in \(\mathbb R^n\). It was shown by \textit{C. A. Rogers} [Acta Math. 94, 249--287 (1955; Zbl 0065.28201)] that for a Borel set \(B\subset\mathbb R^n\) with Lebesgue measure \(| B| =\infty\), \(\nu\)-almost all lattices \(\Lambda\subset \mathbb R^n\) contain infinitely many primitive lattice points in \(B\). Here a point \(b\in \Lambda\) is called primitive if \(\lambda\,b\notin\Lambda\) for all \(\lambda\in(0,1)\). The authors prove the following interesting refinement: Let \(B\subset \mathbb R^n\) with \(| B| =\infty\). For \(\nu\)-almost every lattice, the set \(B\) contains infinitely many, pairwise disjoint \(n\)-tuples of linearly independent primitive points. A consequence of this result is that the successive minima of a star body \(S\subset \mathbb R^n\) with \(| S| =\infty\) are zero for \(\nu\)-almost all lattices in \(\mathbb R^n\).
