Using the classification theorem for finite simple groups, and known facts about their maximal subgroups, the list of maximal subgroups of index \(2^a\cdot 3^b\) is obtained. As a corollary, the list of non-soluble primitive permutation groups of degree \(2^a\cdot 3^b\) is obtained. Note: there appears to be a mistake in the statement of Theorem 1: \(Z_5\) is not maximal in \(L_2(9)\), and does not have index \(2^2\cdot 3^2\).
