Let \(X,Y\) be Banach spaces and \(D\) an open convex domain of \(X\). A Mysovskii-type semilocal convergence theorem for the secant method (\(x_{k+1}=x_k-[x_{k-1};x_k;F]^{-1}F(x_k), k\geq 0\)) of solving \(F(x)=0\) in \(D\) is established, under i) the Frechet derivative \(F'\) is Hölder continuous (\(| | F'(x)-F'(y)| | \leq c| | x-y| | ^p\), for some \(c>0, p\in ]0,1]\)), and ii) the divided difference is expressed as \([x,y;F]=\int _0^1F'(tx+(1-t)y)\,dt\). Further examples are provided to show that these results are working where earlier ones fail.
