The authors define a new property for Banach spaces, which is weaker than the Dominguez--Lorenzo condition and stronger than weak normal structure. Using this property, they prove a fixed point theorem for nonexpansive multivalued mappings in a particular class of Banach spaces. They state a relationship between the weakly convergent sequence coefficient and the Jordan-von Neumann constant of a Banach space. Using this fact, they prove that if the Jordan-von Neumann constant is less than an appropriate positive number, then every multivalued nonexpansive mapping \(T : E \rightarrow K(E)\) has a fixed point where \(E\) is a nonempty weakly compact convex subset of Banach space \(X\) and \(K(E)\) is the class of all nonempty compact subsets of \(E\). The authors provide a partial answer to the question of \textit{S.~Dhompongso} and \textit{A.~Kaewkhao} [``A note on properties that imply the weak fixed point property'', Abstr.\ Appl.\ Anal., in press].
