Consider an irreducible algebroid curve given by the ring \(R\) over an algebraically closed field \(k\). Then we have an injection \(R \subset K[[t]]\), where \(k[[t]]\) is the normalization of \(R\). This gives a valuation on \(R\), and the semigroup \(\Gamma\) of \(R\). In case the embedding dimension of \(R\) is two, much can be said about the semigroup: the semigroup is determined by the infinitely near points and the proximity relation. In this paper the author studies the semigroup for the case of embedding dimension three, its relation with the Hamburger-Noether matrix and the infinitely near points.
