Let \(f:M^n \looparrowright \mathbb R^{n+1}\) be an immersed hypersurface equipped with connected subgroup \(G \subset\text{Iso}(M)\) such that the orbits of maximal dimension are of codimension 1 (a hypersurface of \(G\)-cohomogeneity one). The standard example of such an immersion is constructed by means of a compact subgroup, such that the orbit space \(\mathbb R^{n+1}/G\) is a two-dimensional manifold (with boundary). In this example \(M\) is an inverse image of a closed curve \(l \looparrowright \mathbb R^{n+1}/G\) which meets the boundary orthogonally. The main theorem proves that under additional assumptions the standard example of a \(G\)-cohomogeneity one immersion is the only possible.
