Let \(X\) be a set which has the structure of a homogeneous space. It means that there is a quasi-metric \(\rho\) on \(X\) satisfying \[ | \rho(x,y) -\rho(x',y)| \leq C_0 \rho(x,x')^\theta [\rho(x,y) +\rho(x',y)]^{1-\theta} \] for some constants \(C_0 >0, \; \theta \in (0,1]\) and all \(x,x', y\) in \(X\). The space \(X\) is endowed with a nonnegative Borel regular measure \(\mu\) such that for some \(d>0\), all \(x \in X\) and all \(0<r< \operatorname{diam}X\) \[ \mu (\{y \in X:\; \rho(x,y) <r \}) \sim r^d. \] The boundedness of the Calderón-Zygmund operators is obtained on spaces of test functions. This result is used to establish Calderón's reproducing formulas associated with a given para-accretive function. The relevant Littlewood-Paley theorem on the inhomogeneous \(g\)-function is obtained. This gives a new characterization of the Lebesgue space \(L^p (X)\) for \(1<p<\infty\) and generalizes a corresponding result of David, Journé and Semmes.
