The concept of regular continuity proposed by the author is extended in this paper to the divided difference operator and applied to a convergence analysis of the secant method for solving nonlinear operator equations in Banach space. Furthermore, exact convergence domain of the majorant generator is described with a functional equation. This improves the estimates of convergence domain and error bounds of the secant method.
