    Let the time dependent domain \(\Omega(t)\) be occupied by an incompressible ideal fluid. Let \(\Omega(t)\) be a plane strip bounded by a given line \(\Gamma_b\) (bottom) and free boundary \(\Gamma_s(t)=\{(x,y): y=\eta(t,x)\), \(x\in \mathbb R\}\). Let the unknown functions \(v(t,x,y), p\,(t,x,y)\) and \(\eta(t,x)\) satisfy \[ \begin{aligned} &\rho\left(\frac{\partial v}{\partial t}+(v\cdot\nabla)v\right)+\nabla p=-\rho\,(0,g), \quad \text{div}\, v=0 \quad \text{in}\;\Omega(t),\\ &p=p_e,\;\frac{\partial \eta}{\partial t}+v_1\frac{\partial \eta}{\partial x}-v_2=0\quad \text{on}\;\Gamma_s(t),\\ &v\cdot n=0\quad \text{on}\;\Gamma_b,\\ &\eta(0,x)=\eta_0(x),\;v(0,x,y)=v_0(x,y),\quad (x,y)\in \Omega_0. \end{aligned} \] Here are \(v\) velocity of the fluid, \(p\) pressure, \(\rho=\text{const}\) density, \(g\) gravity, \(p_e\) given atmospheric pressure, \(n\) unit outward normal to \(\Gamma_b\). The existence of a smooth solution to the problem on some time interval is proved for smooth small initial data \((\eta_0,v_0)\).
