A fibration \(\pi \): \ \(S^{3}\rightarrow B\) with oriented great circle fibers induces a map of \(B\) into a Frechet manifold \(E\) of embeddings of \( S^{1}\) \ into \(S^{3}.\) \ \(E\) has a canonical weak Riemannian metric. This paper shows that \(\pi \) is a Hopf fibration, is equivalent to \(B\) being totally geodesic, or of minimal volume, or of minimal diameter in \(E.\)
