Let \(T\) be a linear power bounded operator on a Banach space \(X\). Define \(S_{\lambda}\) by \(S_{\lambda} = (1 - \lambda)I + \lambda T\), for \(0 < \lambda < 1\). The principal result of the paper is that \(\{S^n_{\lambda}\}\), the sequence of iterates of \(S_{\lambda}\), converges strongly to a fixed point of \(T\) provided that \(\{S^n_{\lambda}\}\) has a weak cluster point. This result is an extension to an arbitrary Banach space of the corresponding result in locally convex linear spaces.
