The adequate treatment of singularities and/or quasi-singularities plays an important role in BEM formulations (see e.g. [\textit{V. Sladek, J. Sladek}, in Brebbia, C. A. (ed.), Boundary element research in Europe. EUROBEM 98. Proceedings of the 2nd European boundary element symposium held in Southampton, GB, May 19-21, 1998. Southampton: C M Publications. 233--242 (1998; Zbl 0924.73298)]). In the present paper, the authors pay attention to the evaluation of nearly strongly and hypersingular integrals in BEM formulations for three-dimensional elasticity problems. In the case of flat elements, the nearly singular integrals are transformed to a series of line integrals along the contour of linear triangular elements. Then, the standard Gaussian quadrature yields very accurate results. For the use of higher order elements, the authors show how the 8-node nearly singular quadrilateral element can be subdivided into 8 triangular elements. The evaluation for the further elements from the source point can employ the original methods.
