The author considers almost \(\mathcal S\)-manifolds [cf. \textit{J. L. Cabrerizo, L. M. Fernández and M. Fernández}, An. Stiint. Univ. Al. I. Cuza Iasi, Ser. Noua, Mat. 36, No. 2, 151--161 (1990; Zbl 0737.53031)]. Curvature properties of such manifolds are studied. The main theorem states: If \((M,\varphi,\xi_i,\eta^i,g)\) is an almost \(\mathcal S\)-manifold of dimension \(2n+s\), \(n\geq2\), such that \(R_{XY}\xi_i=0\) for each \(i=1,\ldots,s\), then \(M\) is locally isometric to \(\mathbb E^{n+s}\times\mathbb S^{4s}\), where \(\mathbb E^{n+s}\) is the \(n+s\) dimensional Euclidean space and \(\mathbb S^{4s}\) is the \(n\)-dimensional sphere of radius \(1/(2\sqrt s)\). In the above, \(M\) is flat if \(n=1\). Moreover, she gives a construction of an almost \(\mathcal S\)-structure on a \((2n+s)\)-dimensional manifold admitting 1-forms \(\eta^1,\ldots,\eta^s\) such that \(d\eta^1=\ldots=d\eta^s\) is a 2-form of constant rank \(2n\) and \(\eta^1\wedge\ldots\eta^s\wedge(d\eta^1)^n\neq 0\).
