Let \((X,\tau)\) be a topological space. A subset \(A\) of \(X\) is said to be \(b\)-open, see \textit{D. Andrijevic} [Mat. Vesnik, 48, 59-64 (1996; Zbl 0885.54002)] if \(A\subset \text{Cl}(\text{Int}(A))\cup\text{Int}(\text{Cl}(A))\). \textit{T. Noiri} [J. Korean Math. Soc. 16, 161-166 (1980; Zbl 0435.54010)] introduced the notion of strong \(\theta\)-continuity. Many authors extended this notion. In this paper the author introduces the notion of strongly \(\theta-b\)-continuous functions which is a generalization of both strongly \(\theta\)-precontinuous functions, cf. \textit{T. Noiri} [Acta Math. Hungar. 90, 307-316 (2001; Zbl 0980.54010)] and strongly \(\theta\)-semi-continuous functions, cf. \textit{S. Jafari} and \textit{T. Noiri} [Indian J. Pure Appl. Math. 29, 1195-1201 (1998; Zbl 0917.54017)]. Definition. A function \(f:(X,\tau)\to (Y,\sigma)\) is said to be strongly \(\theta\)-continuous if for each \(x\in X\) and each open set \(V\) containing \(f(x)\), there exists a \(b\)-open set \(U\) containing \(x\) that \(f(b\text{Cl}(U))\subset V\), where \(bCL(U)\) is the \(b\)-closure of \(U\). Some characterizations and several properties concerning strongly \(\theta-b\)-continuous functions are obtained. Remark. Recently, \textit{T. Noiri} and \textit{V. Popa} [Acta Math. Hungar. 106, No. 3, 167--186 (2005; Zbl 1092.54004)] introduced a new notion of strongly \(\theta-M\)-continuous functions from a set satisfying some minimal conditions into a set satisfying some minimal conditions. Every strongly \(\theta-b\)-continuous function is strongly \(\theta-M\)-continuous. Some results of paper of the author are particular cases of the paper of Noiri and Popa. For examples, Theorems 4.5, 4.10, 4.13, 6.3, 6.7, 7.2 are particular cases of Theorems 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, respectively.
