The author focusses on the study of the manifold \(A\) of algebraic elements in the space \(L(H)\) of all bounded linear operators on a complex Hilbert space. If \(G\) denotes the group of all \(C^*\)-automorphisms of \(L(H)\), then the manifold \(A\) is represented as a disjoint union of closed connected subsets \(M\) of \(L(H)\) which are invariant under the action of \(G\) (these subsets \(M\) are actually the orbits of \(G\) in \(A\)). Using a JB*-triple approach instead of the classical Jordan-algebra tools, a real-analytic Banach-manifold structure and a \(G\)-invariant affine connection \(\bigtriangledown\) are defined on \(M\) and the \(\bigtriangledown\)-geodesics are computed. When \(M\) coincides with the orbit of a finite-rank projection, then a \(G\)-invariant Riemann structure is introduced with respect to which \(\bigtriangledown\) is the Levi-Civita connection.
