Let \(R\) be an associative ring with a unit element. By \(\mathcal P(R)\) is denoted the monoid of finitely generated projective \(R\)-modules. If every finitely generated projective \(R\)-module is free, such a ring is called projective-free. The aim of the paper is to derive some results on projective-free rings. It is shown that surjective local homomorphisms do not diminish the monoid of projectives. The authors obtain conditions ensuring that a ring homomorphism reflects projective-freeness. A slightly weaker condition is reached by assuming the regularity of full matrices.
