The two-grid method has emerged as a new domain decomposition technique for elliptic problems [e.g. \textit{J. Xu} and \textit{A. Zhou}, Math. Comput. 69, No. 231, 881--909 (2000; Zbl 0948.65122)]. The authors extend the two grid finite element method for solving second order elliptic problems to the nonconforming finite element case. A local and parallel nonconforming finite element algorithm is proposed and its convergence rate is obtained.
