The author considers functions \(f: G \to {\mathbb{R}},\) where \(G \subset {\mathbb{R}}^n \) is a domain, which are continuous in \(G\) and satisfy in \(G \setminus E\) two conditions: (1) they are \(p\)-harmonic and (2) their integral means over balls of radius \(r\) behave like \(r^{\gamma}.\) Here \(E \subset G\) is a closed set. The set \(E\) is said to be removable if there is a function \(g: G \to {\mathbb{R}},\) satisfying (1) and (2) in \(G\) and such that \(f\equiv g\) in \(G \setminus E.\) The author proves a number of very interesting results, which in the particular case \(n=2, p=2,\) generalize the results of \textit{E. P. Dolzhenko} [Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Ser. Mat. 28, 1251--1270 (1964; Zbl 0178.13501), ibid., 1113--1130 (1964; Zbl 0178.13403)] and \textit{L. Carleson} [Selected problems on exceptional sets (1967; Zbl 0189.10903)]. For related results see \textit{T. Kilpeläinen} and \textit{X. Zhong} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 130, No. 6, 1681--1688 (2002; Zbl 1027.35032)].
