This paper is concerned with the stability and convergence of a class of monotone finite difference schemes for a multidimensional scalar hyperbolic conservation law. Making use of Kruzkov's theory for scalar conservation laws and exploiting the properties of monotone schemes such as the maximum principle, the author proves the stability and convergence of the schemes. This paper generalizes the corresponding results on monotone schemes to a wider class of monotone schemes including implicit as well as explicit finite difference schemes.
