Let \(X\subset {\mathbb P}^n\) be a smooth curve and \(X^{(1)}\) its first infinitesimal neighborhood, i.e. the closed subscheme in \({\mathbb P}^n\) with \((I_X)^2\) as the ideal sheaf. In the paper under review, the author proves that \(X^{(1)}\) has maximal rank (i.e. for every \(m\geq 1\), the natural restriction map \(H^0({\mathbb P}^n,{\mathcal O}_{{\mathbb P}^n}(m))\rightarrow H^0(X^{(1)},{\mathcal O}_{X^{(1)}(m)})\) has maximal rank) for several nonlinearly normal embeddings \(X\subset{\mathbb P}^n\).
